[5 November 2011 – 29 January 2012, Maastricht] For the opening of the exhibition Common Grounds at NAiM/Bureau Europa, we have been invited for an opening talk on 5 November, to discuss the outset of temporary interventions in urban space. On ArchiNed, meanwhile a lively report of this talk has been posted (here, in Dutch).
The exhibition itself investigates possibilities inherent to the temporary redevelopment of disused urban areas – at a moment in which the vacancy rate in the Netherlands has reached a level of around 14%. This vacancy is not limited to office spaces, but also includes cultural heritage sites, industrial buildings, churches, business areas, shopping streets and parts of urban nature. Based on several recent projects in the Netherlands, Common Grounds exhibition identifies how different initiatives (both bottom-up and top-down) that use the potential of vacant sites and buildings, can reinforce each other.
NAiM/Bureau Europa’s curator Saskia van Stein has invited STEALTH.unlimited to show the Constitution for the Interim, a proposal of to regulate the interim in a more fair and straightforward manner, which has been made in collaboration with Iris de Kievith. The exhibition will be on show till 29th of January.
